Peace treaty Peace treaty



A peace treaty is an agreement between two hostile parties, usually countries or governments, that formallyends a war . Famous examples include the Treaty of Versailles , formally ending the First World War , or the peace treaty signed at the AppatomatoxCourthouse , formally ending the American Civil War . Not tobe confused with a cease-fire , such as those that suspended the Korean War or Gulf War .
